에움길은 이옥선 할머니의 증언을 중심으로 일본군'성노예' 피해자 할머니들의 이야기를 다룬 영화입니다. 노래를 사랑하는 박옥선 할머니, 자유분방한 강일출 할머니, 다재다능한 배춘희 할머니를 비롯한 할머니들의 삶과 일상을 특유의 따뜻한 시선으로 담아냅니다.

tedo는 영화 에움길의 포스터 디자인을 맡아 작업했습니다. 작업의 시작은 오랜 시간 촬영된 이옥선 할머니의 사진들을 모두 모아 한 장 한 장씩 살펴보는 일이었습니다. 할머니의 평범한 일상부터 많은 이야기를 담고 있는 듯한 뒷모습, 그리고 역사적인 순간 속에 기록된 모습까지, 이 모든 이미지들 속에서 세 장의 사진을 선정하여 세 가지 버전의 포스터를 디자인했습니다.

영화 제목 에움길의 영문 표기인 ‘A long way around’는 굽이굽이 연결되는 길 형태의 캘리그래피로 제작하여, 멀고 험난했던 할머니들의 인생길을 시각적으로 표현했습니다. 작업 전체적으로는 각 사진의 분위기와 포스터의 용도에 따라 다른 레이아웃과 색감을 선택해 디자인을 진행했습니다. 할머니의 일상 사진을 활용한 포스터에서는 할머니가 즐겨 입으시던 옷에 새겨진 귀여운 붉은 꽃을 강조했으며, 국제 영화제 출품용 포스터는 모노톤으로 제작하여 극적인 순간의 무게감을 전달했습니다.

‘A Long Way Around’ is a film centered on the testimony of Lee Ok-seon, sharing the stories of survivors of Japanese military sexual slavery. Through the lives and everyday moments of women like Park Ok-seon, who loved singing, Kang Il-chul, known for her free-spirited personality, and Bae Chun-hee, a woman of many talents, the film captures their experiences with a warm and thoughtful perspective.

tedo™ had the honor of designing the posters for ‘A Long Way Around’. The process began with gathering and carefully reviewing a collection of photographs of Lee Ok-seon taken over many years. From everyday life to a reflective image of her back, and moments of historical significance, three photos were selected to create three distinct versions of the poster.

The film’s English title, ‘A Long Way Around’, was expressed through flowing, winding calligraphy to visually represent the long and difficult paths these women have walked. Each poster was designed with layouts and color palettes suited to the mood and purpose of the image. One version, highlighting her everyday life, drew attention to the red flowers embroidered on her favorite outfit. Another, created for international film festivals, used a monochromatic scheme to convey the weight of the story’s most dramatic moments.
